Wizkid Makes History, Becomes First African Artist To Headline Sold-Out Show At London’s Iconic Hall

Prominent Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has made history, as he becomes the first African artist to headline a sold-out show at London’s most iconic venue, Royal Albert Hall, on Friday, September 29, 2017.

It is understood that Starboy took the legendary lane – joining Beatles, Adele, Elton – by being the first African artiste to achieve the feat after he sold out the venue in less the 72 hours and gave a very thrilling performance.

The show which was broadcast live on his Facebook page featured British act Yxng Bane and Wande Coal.

His one-hour stand-alone performance highlighted hit tracks from his early days in the industry to his recent days as Africa’s biggest artiste.

Wizkid’s collaborative track with Drake ‘One Dance’, up until September 22, was the most streamed song on Spotify, a feat that earned him a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The track was actually what opened the door for his success outside Africa and made him a Sony Records priority – although, it is likely he would still have gotten there even without the patronage.

Admit it or dispute it, Wizkid has beyond doubt proven to the world once again that he is the biggest art in Africa and one of the most brightest of the modern era – a master of his unique brand of proficient creativity in Afrobeats.
