Buhari Reacts As 27 People Die In Fresh Plateau Attack
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the military and the police to do all it takes to put an instant end to the
violence in Plateau state; ensuring no reprisal attacks.
It was gathered that no less than 27 people were killed during an attack in Nkiedonwhro village of Irigwe chiefdom in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State in the wee hours of Monday.
Following the series of attacks said to be carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen, the State Governor, Simon Lalong, had declared a dusk to dawn curfew in the local government area.
Despite the curfew declared last Friday, midnight attacks still persist in the Chiefdom with many residents already fleeing the troubled area.
However, in a statement on Monday, the senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, quoted Buhari as saying the “madness has gone too far.”
According to Shehu, the president directed the security agencies to ensure that there are no further attacks or reprisal attacks.

According to Shehu, the president directed the security agencies to ensure that there are no further attacks or reprisal attacks.
The statement read: “President Muhammadu Buhari has received with deep sadness and regret, news of the recent killings of at least 20 people in Plateau state, during what has been described as a reprisal attack by some herdsmen.”
“President Buhari believes that this madness has gone too far. He has instructed the military and the police to not only bring the violence to an instant end, but to draw up a plan to ensure that there are no further attacks and reprisal attacks by one group against the other.
“President Buhari is devoted to the sanctity of Nigeria’s unity, and he encourages Nigerians of all groups to learn to live together in peace and harmony.
“He commiserates with the governor and people of Plateau State, and with those who lost their loved ones, friends and family: May God comfort them as only he can.”
Meanwhile, on Monday evening, the remains of the 27 victims of the attacks had been given a mass burial amidst wailing and outpouring of emotions in the village.
