GRAPHIC VIDEO: CCTV reveals during a bank robbery in Owerri

The CCTV footage of a bank robbery allegedly carried out in Owerri, the capital of Imo State have been released and has gone viral.


The video clearly shows a black Hyundai saloon car drive into the bank premises as the security guard on duty opened the gates and gestured to the driver showing him where to park. The driver, however, drove in midway into the bank premises and stopped. Then the occupants of the car alighted, armed with AK-47 rifles, started shooting sporadically.

The security guard and a customer could be seen fleeing the scene while the armed robbers kept shooting. However an armed policeman who was attached to the bank, shot back at the car, which spiraled into a gun battle between the robbers and the policeman.

The policeman was able to gun down one of the robbers while he scampered to safety even though, the robbers made away with their target as the video clearly shows one of them clutching to what looks like a bag.

The robbers had trailed a customer who came in to deposit a huge sum of money to the Zenith bank branch located along Wetheral Road, opposite
Dan Anyiam Stadium in the city.

Out of the five people who lost their lives was one of the robbers, 3 bank security agents and the customer who was trailed to the bank, seven other people were injured in the crossfire.

The kingpin Justice Ogbonna, aka, JJ, was later arrested during his father’s burial, alongside the driver, Okechukwu Onwuamaegbu.
