16 Rescued in Lagos Collapsed building
At least, 16 people have been rescued in Thursday’s collapsed building at Ilasa area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
An uncompleted three-storey building under construction at No. 6 Richard Abimbola Street, Ilasa, Lagos caved in around 2:00pm on Thursday with many of the labourers trapped in the debris.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu said 16 people have been rescued alive so far and that nobody had died so far.
He said the agency was informed of a collapsed building and that on getting to the scene of incident, it discovered that the uncompleted building collapsed while unknown number of labourer trapped.
“Further investigation revealed that the building collapsed at around 2.00pm as 16 of the labourers have been rescued and some are being treated by the agency’s medical team and LASAMBUS while some had been rushed to the hospital.
“Extraction of trapped victims on going and no mortality recorded at the moment,” he said.
