Kidnapped house of reps member regains freedom

A member of house of representatives, Garba Durbunde, who was abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna highway, has been released.


A source said that the legislator was released after an undisclosed ransom was paid.

Garba Durbunde was reported to have been abducted while returning to the nation’s capital after a trip to Kano.

Reacting to the incident, Governor said in a statement by the Kano State Commissioner For Information, Mr Muhammad Garba, that he was shocked and saddened by the news, especially as the incident occurred during the Ramadan.

He condemned the abduction, which took place at Jere, on the Kaduna-Abuja Road, “in the strongest term as an act of wickedness perpetrated by evil and cold-hearted elements”.

The governor called on the police and other security agencies to rescue Durbunde and ensure that those behind the kidnap are made to face the law.

He also called on members of the public to be vigilant and security conscious.
