BREAKING: Lagos Uber drivers embark on strike, list demands. #UberLagosStrike

Following the 40% price reduction by Uber recently in response to Taxify, a growing competitor, Lagos’
Uber drivers have embarked on a peaceful demonstration to register their grievances against the cab-hailing platform.

According to an Uber driver who chatted with Omojuwa.Com, “Uber drivers in Lagos are currently protesting against the new Uber pricing regime and Uber’s alleged decision to retain its 25% fee.”

He also stated that the drivers want the current fare reduction halted, Uber’s fee reduced to 10%, and a rider verification system.

As at the time of filing this report, huge surges have been identified in most parts of Lagos. The effects of the strike has begun to take it’s toll on Uber operations in Lagos as seen in the pictures below:

Further communication with Uber drivers in Lagos revealed that there is an ongoing meeting to decide the next step to be taken by the drivers.

As we await the outcome of the meeting, more Uber drivers across the state are joining in the strike.
